Types  and Causes of Glaucoma

It is a condition that causes damage to eye’s optic nerve which could cause loss of vision permanently. One of the major reason of Glaucoma is due to the high intraocular pressure damaging the optic nerve which sends images to the brain. Glaucoma can affect both the eyes, but the extent of damage on each eye can be different.

Symptoms and Diagnosis of Glaucoma

Usually there are very few or no symptoms of glaucoma. However loss of peripheral or side vision would initially take place and eventually leading to the loss of central vision. Hereby early diagnosis of Glaucoma is very important which can be detected through a comprehensive dilated eye exam.

Treatments for Glaucoma

Effectiveness of treatment depends upon the extent of glaucoma attack in an individual. Early diagnosis plays a major role in treating Glaucoma. Regular treatments can also treat glaucoma to save the remaining vision, however the damage caused is not irreversible.

Stem Cell Therapy Replacement for Retinal Ganglion Cells

Glaucoma is disease in the eye characterized by the progressive loss of retinal ganglion cells. Stem cell based therapeutics provide a method for restoration of neurons damaged by retinal disease. With the extensive research in the stem cells and its success rate, stem cells can differentiate into retinal neurons in vitro and in vivo following transplantation for retinal degeneration. With stem cell transplantation therapy which has been shown to preserve retinal integrity and attenuate the loss of retinal ganglion cell function when transplanted by using technology.

Glaucoma is the major cause of blindness worldwide. With extensive research being carried out for early diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma can minimize and prevent optic nerve damage, therefore limiting or preventing vision loss. With the advancements in technology, treatment is highly effective, however damage caused by this disease cannot always be reversed – early detection is a key element to prevent vision loss. This three day event include the major sessions

Eye 2016 market research:

Glaucoma Treatment Market research : This glaucoma treatment market report covers provides data and information on The US and Japan under its country coverage. Glaucoma treatment forms a significant portion of the overall eye care market. The market for glaucoma treatment has grown rapidly in the last decade, based on both increasing number of people with glaucoma and the introduction of new treatments. However, the worldwide glaucoma treatment market is expected to decline that can be attributable to price reduction of drugs due to generic availability of many brands in coming years. For this glaucoma treatment market research, the glaucoma pharmaceuticals are segmented into two classes namely prostaglandins analogues (PGAs) and Non PGAs that include beta blockers, carbonic anhydrase inhibitors and alpha agonists. PGAS are the most widely prescribed drug class for glaucoma with latanoprost (brand name Xalatan) the most commonly prescribed drug.

Glaucoma  Drug Forecast and Market research: Glaucoma is a leading cause of preventable blindness globally. This chronic progressive optic neuropathy causes irreversible vision loss through damage to the optic nerve. There are currently no treatments that can directly prevent this damage, and all commercially available glaucoma therapies focus on lowering elevated intraocular pressure (IOP), a known risk factor for glaucoma development and progression. The launch of fixed-dose combination (FDC) products, which combine drugs from these various classes, will continue to be a source of significant growth in this market. The glaucoma market is about to enter a phase of new growth with the arrival of first-in-class drugs, such as Aerie's Rhopressa, Bausch & Lomb's Vesneo (latanoprost bunod), and Inotek's trabodenoson into the 7MM during the forecast period, which will generate additional growth in the global glaucoma market.
