Prof Muthusamy Palanisamy is an ophthalmologist who has a passion to teach. He graduated in medicine (M.B.B.S) in 1970 from Tanjore Medical College (affiliated to Madras University), Tamil Nadu, India. He did his training in ophthalmology in the Eye Department of Kuala Lumpur General Hospital, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and the Princess Alexandria Eye Pavilion (Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh) in United Kingdom. He received the Diploma in Ophthalmology from Royal College Physician of London and the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1977. He was admitted as a Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1978. In 1989, he was admitted without examination as a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologist. He was admitted as a member of the Academy of Medicine Malaysia in 1991. He is also a Fellow of the International Council of Ophthalmologists. In 1982, he established the Muthusamy Medal for the most outstanding candidate in the final Fellowship Examination in Ophthalmology conducted by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in each Academic year. He has received the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh College medal for his contribution in the field of Ophthalmology to the College. He practices ophthalmology at the Muthu Eye Clinic & Surgery in Kota Kinabalu Specialist Centre, Sabah, Malaysia. He is a co-ordinator for the International Basic Science Assessment for Ophthalmologists conducted by the International Council of Ophthalmology. He is an Adjunct Professor in the Medical School of the University Malaysia Sabah. In the year 2000, he founded the Muthusamy Virtual University of Postgraduate Ophthalmology which has successful students all over the world.

Born on 28th march 1964,Dr R S Chauhan graduated from Medical college Rohtak in 1985 and completed his M.S. in Ophthalmology in1990 from the same college. For 3 years he worked in Shree Baba Mastnath Eye hospital, now a University, which was 300 bedded Eye Hospital. He joined PGI of Medical Sciences Rohtak in 1993 as Senior Resident In 1996 continued as Consultant till date. He has undergone training in L V Parsad Eye Institute Hyderabad in 1993, Premier Eye institute Aligarh in 1994, Dr R P centre AIIMS in 2004 and Dudlay Hospital Birmingham UK in 2009. He also worked abroad in Sohar Regional Hospital in Sultanate of Oman for three years (June 2005-June 2008) as Senior Specialist and HOD Ophthalmology. He had been actively involved in teaching undergraduate in PGIMS Rohtak and Oman Medical College under West Virgenia University. He is Post graduate teacher since 1998 and guided many MS student and DNB students. He has attended many International and National conferences and had chaired many session and conducted Instruction courses in SICS.He has plenty of publication and presentation to his credit. He is actively involved in Community Ophthalmology and attended more than 50 Eye camps and headed 28 eye camps as chief eye surgeon. He has more than 15000 surgeries to his credit. His area of interest are Community Ophthalmology , Cornea and Eye Banking Services, Oculoplasty ,SICS and Glaucoma. He is presently working as Professor in Cornea, Glaucoma and Eye Banking unit in Regional Institute of Ophthalmology in Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences Rohtak.

Prof. Dr. M. Nazrul Islam is Professor of Ophthalmology at BIRDEM Hospital, Dhaka, and Senior Glaucoma Consultant, cataract surgeon, and Director of Bangladesh Eye Hospital. He trained in phacoemulsification with Dr. Pannet Pangputhipong in 1997 and in glaucoma surgery with Prof. Robert Ritch in 2005. He is the President of Bangladesh Eye Care Society and Immediate Past President of the Bangladesh Glaucoma Society. At present he is the Chairman of Jessore Community Eye Hospital in Bangladesh, Board member of the Asia Pacific Glaucoma Society (APGS), Board member of Asian Angle Closure Glaucoma Club(AACGC) and Vice President of the Ophthalmological Society of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeon. He is Chief Editor of the Journal of Bangladesh Glaucoma Society and has written five books on eye in his own language Bangla. He has been widely acknowledged with national and international awards for service in ophthalmic field.

Prof. Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah (a nationally and internationally well known scholar/researcher of Pakistan origin) was born on 1-1-1959 at Larkana, Sindh, Pakistan. Qualified MBBS with distinction in 1980 from Chandka Medical College/ University of Sindh, Pakistan. He passed Fellowship Examination of College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan and was elected as Fellow in Ophthalmology (FCPS) in 1987. He has 40 published research papers and numerous scientific presentations to his credit. He is author of well known textbook of Clinical Ophthalmology "Concise Ophthalmology for Medical Students" (ISBN: 978-969-637-001-7). He is inventor of instruments like "Imtiaz zigzag device" for visual acuity testing of preverbal children. He has added new physical signs like "Imtiaz sign in Vitamin A deficiency" in clinical ophthalmology. He has described new clinical entities and has modified some operative procedures like phaco, entropion with better prognosis. He has received several National and International Awards including OSP (Ophthalmological Society of Pakistan) Gold Medal, Noval Christy Gold Medal and Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology's (APAO) Award 2010 for outstanding services in Prevention of blindness in Asia Pacific region. He is member of editorial boards of numerous internationally reputed journals of ophthalmology. He has acted as scientific evaluator of international conferences representing Pakistan. He is examiner of postgraduate examinations (Membership, Fellowship and Masters) in Pakistan and Southeast Asian countries. He has chaired seats of Dean Faculty of Surgery and Allied Sciences and Director Academics at SMBB Medical University Larkana, Pakistan. Presently he is working as Professor of Ophthalmology at SMBB Medical University Larkana, Pakistan.

Dr. K S Sriprakash graduated from Bangalore Medical College and belongs to the 1970 batch. After internship, he completed his Post Graduation in M S Ophthalmology in the year 1981 at the Minto Ophthalmic Hospital (MOH), the teaching hospital attached to BMC. Starting his career as a Lecturer in Ophthalmology at BMC in the year 1982, he went on to specialize in Vitreo – Retina at Wills Eye Hospital – Philadephia, USA and Scheie Eye Institute, University of Pennsylvania in 1990. He underwent advanced Vitreo Retinal training (Pneumo Retinopexy) with Dr. George F Hilton, University of California in 1994. He held various positions at BMC from being a Lecturer, an Assistant Professor, Professor of Ophthalmology, Chief of Department of Vitreo Retina and became the Coordinator for Vitreo – Retinal Fellowship programmes at BMC from 2003 to 2006. He was the Head of Department of Ophthalmology and the Medical Superintendent between 2006 to 2010 and in 2010 became the Director of Regional Institute of Ophthalmology (RIO). Naturally, this rich experience in Academics was recognized in the field of Medical Education by he being appointed the Vice-Chancellor of prestigious Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) from 14th July 2011. This was a strongly deserved appointment. He has since relinquished on completion of his tenure of 3 years. Dr. Sriprakash not only ran the University with élan but also added to its reach and capabilities. He added new departments of Quality Assurance and Accreditation, Advance Research, Public Health Institute and Centre for Disease Control as well as initiated a programme of Automation designed to make the University process transparent. He has left a vastly improved, diversified and forward looking University. RGUHS during his tenure progressed from a CIVIC University to an OUT REACH UNIVERSITY. His public contribution has been more than 10,000 cataract surgeries including phacoemulsification. He has more than 65 presentations at regional, national and international forums. His publications are in indexed journals and has also contributed a chapter in the text book of Vitreo – Retinal diseases. He is the recipient of a number of awards and recognitions both in his Professional as well as in the Public field such as 1) Award for “Outstanding service in Prevention of Blindness” in the Asia Pacific region at a conference held at Tokyo, Japan – 2014.

Professor Anthony C B Molteno graduated in medicine from the University of Cape Town. He worked as an ophthalmologist at Baragwanath Hospital before becoming acting head of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Stellenbosch and Tygerberg Hospital. He came to the University of Otago in 1977, and was head of ophthalmology at the University of Otago Dunedin School of Medicine from 1987 to 2014. He taught and examined medical students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and he and his wife, Tess, have mentored decades of ophthalmology registrars. He became a full Professor in 2002 and Emeritus Professor in 2012, and retired from clinical and teaching work at the end of 2014. He continues his active research programme, which has been partly funded in 2014 and 2015 by a Lotteries Health Translational Research Project Grant. He is particularly known for developing the world's first glaucoma drainage implant, the Molteno implant, which is still considered the 'gold standard'. He also developed the bone-derived hydroxyapatite M-Sphere orbital implant used following enucleation, and a method of photoscreening for infants to detect early strabismus and anomalies in focusing. He has earned an international reputation for his research, most notably about glaucoma and in the Otago Glaucoma Surgery Outcome Study in particular, focusing on the long-term clinical outcomes of glaucoma surgery and the histology and immunohistochemistry of the glaucoma drainage blebs. He has received many awards including the Goldmann Medal from the International Glaucoma Societies in 1998 for the most significant contribution to the understanding and treatment of glaucoma, the 2014 International Society of Glaucoma Surgery Medal for outstanding achievement, and the 2015 American Glaucoma Society Innovator Award. He was admitted as an Honorary Fellow of the College of Ophthalmologists of the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa in 2001 and an Emeritus Member of the Glaucoma Research Society in 2011. Here in New Zealand he was awarded an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the New Year's Honours List in 2005 for his services to ophthalmology and people with glaucoma. He is a previous president of the Ophthalmological Society of New Zealand, and in 2009 received a Distinguished Service Award from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. To recognize his innovation, research and dedication to public clinical ophthalmology, the Anthony Molteno Prize was established in 2011. This prize is for the highest ranking student in the Ophthalmic Optics paper of the Postgraduate Diploma in Ophthalmic Basic Sciences at either the University of Otago or University of Sydney.

Dr. Farzana Afzal is the Lecturer at Faculty of Medicine at AIMST University, Malaysia. She accomplished F.C.P.S (Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeons, Bangladesh) and M.C.P.S (Member of College of Physicians and Surgeons, Bangladesh) in Ophthalmology as well as she has 4 years professional training on Ophthalmology. Furthermore, she also passed Basic Science, Theoretical Optics & Refraction and Clinical Science Examination under International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO), London, UK. It is noted that she completed Basic degree (M.B.B.S) from Bangladesh Medical College under Dhaka University, Bangladesh. She also registered with Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) as Medical Practitioner since November 2008. She joined many international and local conferences/seminars; however, she published research papers at international conference proceedings and reputed journals. Recently, she published two books from LAP, Germany. Her research interests are Cataract, Refraction, UVEA, etc. She is the member of International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO), Ophthalmological Society of Bangladesh (OSB), Malaysian Society of Ophthalmology (MSO), Asia-Pacific Association of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons (APACRS), and so on.
